Dhammajarinee Witthaya Foundation

Dhammajarinee Witthaya Foundation

Since 1993, the Dhammajarinee Witthaya Foundation (DWF) in Ratchaburi, Thailand, has provided a safe and nurturing home, nutritious meals, clothing, access to medical care, quality education, and holistic support to more than 5,700 underserved girls through the Dhammajarinee Witthaya School (DWS).

In addition to academics, DWS equips girls with essential life skills, vocational training, STEM education, leadership development, and mental health support through meditation and yoga. As a result, students thrive: 90 percent of graduates go on to attend university, an impressive achievement compared to just 5 percent of children from low-income families in Thailand who pursue higher education.

Girls from low-income families in Thailand face many challenges. Due to economic insecurity, they are often forced into the workforce at an early age, typically in factories or agricultural fields. These situations increase girls’ vulnerability to human trafficking, abuse, and child marriage. Those who are unable to attend school usually lack access to the advanced skills needed for stable employment. DWS seeks to break this cycle by giving girls the tools and opportunities they need to succeed in the 21st century.

With support from the Girls Opportunity Alliance Fund, DWS will implement a digital literacy program that includes access to advanced education in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). This initiative will directly impact 600 girls, empowering them to pursue higher education and careers in fields where women are traditionally underrepresented.

By fostering a community of support, DWS helps build girls’ confidence and enables them to pursue their dreams and aspirations. Ultimately, the organization aims to empower girls to lead independent lives with control over their futures, breaking cycles of poverty and contributing to long-term change in Thailand.
