Fundación Niñas de Luz (FNL) is a Colombian nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding opportunities for adolescent girls from underserved communities. Based in marginalized urban areas, FNL works to ensure access to quality education and holistic development. Through mentorship and academic support, the organization helps girls strengthen foundational skills in reading, mathematics, critical thinking, and civic engagement. Since its founding, FNL has supported more than 500 girls and their families, contributing to lower school dropout rates and greater confidence among participants.
In many areas of Colombia, girls grow up facing significant barriers to education and development. High levels of poverty, domestic violence, and entrenched gender roles limit opportunities and reinforce inequality. For adolescent girls, these challenges often result in early school dropouts, teenage pregnancy, or labor exploitation. Without safe environments and strong support systems, many girls are left without the resources they need to thrive.
Fundación Niñas de Luz is committed to changing this reality. With support from the Girls Opportunity Alliance Fund, the organization will implement a new initiative that combines education, mentorship, and emotional care. Through weekly workshops, 100 adolescent girls will receive support in subjects such math, reading, and financial literacy. The program will also provide space for artistic expression, emotional well-being, and building self-esteem. Continuous family engagement and community involvement ensure that each girl is supported both inside and outside the classroom.
This initiative will directly impact 100 girls and reach an additional 400 family and community members through awareness and engagement activities. By focusing on both academic skills and emotional resilience, Fundación Niñas de Luz seeks to reduce early pregnancies and dropout rates while opening new pathways for growth. Ultimately, Fundación Niñas de Luz aims to create safe spaces where girls can learn, grow, and lead, equipped with the confidence and tools to shape their futures and contribute to their communities.
