Girls Inc. of Chicago is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold through direct service. Since 2019, it has empowered more than 4,000 girls across Chicagoland, equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to navigate adolescence and become leaders in their communities. Rooted in a belief in every girl’s inherent potential, Girls Inc. of Chicago supports girls in becoming the best version of themselves—while encouraging them to uplift others along the way.
The organization’s flagship high school program, Bold Girls Society, cultivates leadership through mentoring, advocacy, and experiential learning. Additional initiatives include workshops focused on STEM, restorative justice, and mindfulness, all designed to help girls explore and champion issues that matter to them.
Girls Inc. of Chicago’s Mind + Body Health program addresses the growing need for mental wellness support in eight South Side CPS schools with limited access to services. With support from the Girls Opportunity Alliance Fund, the program is expanding to reach 40 additional girls in Walter H. Dyett High School for the Arts. The initiative provides social-emotional learning, in-school clinical counseling, and trauma-informed training for educators and parents—strengthening the circle of care around each girl. Grounded in its G.R.I.T. framework (Growth, Resilience, Instinct, Tenacity), Girls Inc. of Chicago supports girls’ emotional and physical development, healthy relationships, self-awareness, and coping skills. This approach aligns with citywide priorities, including CPS’s Continuous Improvement Work Plans and the Chicago COVID Recovery Task Force recommendations.
With bold leadership and a girl-centered mission, Girls Inc. of Chicago is building a future where all girls have the tools and support to thrive—and lead.
