Goddess Mentoring Inc. is dedicated to empowering young girls from diverse backgrounds with the self-confidence, positive identity development, community engagement, and holistic well-being necessary to overcome the challenges commonly encountered by urban youth.
Goddess Mentoring aims to address gaps in mentorship for adolescent girls through a dynamic blend of enrichment activities and workshops focused on leadership development, community building, and celebrating diversity and unity. By creating a nurturing environment centered on mutual respect and support, the organization empowers girls to embrace their unique identities and strengths, and find a community of support.
Since 2016, Goddess Mentoring has emerged as a powerful advocate, challenging stereotypes and uplifting urban communities. The program has empowered girls on Chicago’s West Side, in neighborhoods such as Austin, and recently expanded to the South Side of the city including communities like Greater Grand Crossing. As part of the program’s curriculum, developed by former educators, Goddess Mentoring provides weekly mentoring sessions and hosts a range of enrichment activities, community service projects and special events, including immersive field trips to high schools and colleges, empowerment workshops, and city-wide youth conferences. From fostering sisterhood and building community to providing exposure to educational and career pathways, Goddess Mentoring is designed to ignite the potential within each girl through self-confidence and self-esteem building, community service, financial literacy, and health and wellness workshops.
The Girls Opportunity Alliance Fund will support Goddess Mentoring’s expansion of its 35-week mentoring program to reach girls in West Garfield Park in Chicago and to host weekly mentoring workshops at a local community center led by trained mentors, who will utilize the Goddess Mentoring curriculum. These workshops will be tailored to foster personal and leadership development among participants in this neighborhood. Through a combination of interactive activities, sisterhood bonding circles, specialized college guidance, and career exposure, the program aims to cultivate a supportive community where girls can thrive.
