Haiti Adolescent Girls Network (HAGN)

Haiti Adolescent Girls Network (HAGN)

Haiti Adolescent Girls Network (HAGN) is a nonprofit organization committed to advancing the rights, safety, and well-being of adolescent girls in Haiti. Through a network of community-based programs, HAGN empowers girls to lead healthy, informed, and confident lives. Since its founding, the organization has directly supported more than 20,000 girls and young women with life skills training, mentorship, and violence prevention education.

In Port-au-Prince and other urban areas of Haiti, adolescent girls face growing obstacles to accessing education and basic support. Widespread insecurity, violence, and the collapse of essential public services have forced schools to close and families to flee. Girls are disproportionately affected, confronting poverty, early and forced marriage, gender-based violence, and deeply entrenched social norms that undermine their education and autonomy. For many, especially young mothers and girls with disabilities, safe spaces and support systems remain out of reach.

With support from the Girls Opportunity Alliance Fund, HAGN will launch a project to provide girls with safe learning spaces, mentorship, and financial assistance. Ten trained community mentors will lead weekly sessions in newly established safe spaces wherein girls can learn, connect, and build leadership skills. The project will train 1,000 girls in sexual and reproductive health, financial literacy, and violence prevention. Additionally, 250 girls will receive cash vouchers to pay for school fees or initiate income-generating activities, enabling them to remain in school and build financial independence.

HAGN’s initiative will directly support 1,000 adolescent girls and engage 500 community members, including families and local leaders. Through this work, the organization aims to reduce education barriers and empower girls to participate fully in their communities. HAGN believes that when girls are safe, supported, and heard, they become powerful agents of change—transforming not only their own lives but the future of Haiti.
