I Have a Right Foundation Inc. (IHARF) is a nonprofit organization in Dominica focused on advancing gender equality, child rights, and community development. Since 2017, IHARF has reached more than 100 adolescent girls annually through initiatives such as its DisrupHER Leadership Programme and Menstrual Health & Rights Campaign. IHARF supports empowering girls through social and emotional support, leadership development, life skills, health education, and more.
Adolescent girls in rural Dominica often lack safe, supportive spaces for personal and academic growth. They often have limited access to mentorship, leadership, and financial literacy. Without supportive environments, girls can struggle to reach their full potential or see themselves as community leaders.
With support from the Girls Opportunity Alliance Fund, IHARF will expand its DisrupHER Leadership Programme and establish year-round safe spaces in the Northeast of Dominica. The safe spaces will provide girls with academic support, mentorship, leadership training, and access to digital learning tools. The project also prioritizes community and family engagement through parenting workshops, community awareness campaigns, and stakeholder roundtable discussions. This holistic approach fosters sustained change led by girls, supported by families, and backed by the community.
Through this project, IHARF expects to directly impact 60 adolescent girls and an additional 200 community members. The organization seeks to open spaces where girls feel seen, safe, and supported. The organization hopes to contribute to a world where no girl is left behind and every girl knows her worth.
