Tabitha Cumi Foundation (TCF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering marginalized adolescent girls and women in Nigeria through education, vocational training, health services, psychosocial support, and more. Since its founding, TCF has impacted more 60,000 people in 109 underserved communities across multiple Nigerian states, including Abuja and Benue.
In many areas of Nigeria, adolescent girls face many interconnected challenges, including sexual violence and child marriages. These challenges are often exacerbated by factors such as poverty, limited educational opportunities, and harmful social norms. As a result, survivors often lack the resources—including adequate healthcare, legal support, and safe environments—needed for rehabilitation. TCF aims to address these issues through its programs, which include holistic interventions focused on girls’ unique needs.
With support from the Girls Opportunity Alliance Fund, TCF will establish safe spaces for girls in 20 underserved communities. The project will provide education, psychosocial support, and life skills training, while leveraging a digital case management platform to facilitate timely and coordinated care for survivors of violence and early marriage. TCF will also work closely with community leaders and service providers to strengthen multi-sectoral responses and challenge harmful social norms.
TCF’s project will directly reach 1,000 girls and engage community members, including families, local authorities, and service providers. Through these efforts, TCF aims to reduce the prevalence of gender-based violence and child marriage, empower girls to build safer and more hopeful futures, and foster supportive communities that uphold girls’ rights and dignity.
