Girls Inc. of Chicago

Girls Inc. of Chicago

Girls Inc. of Chicago is a nonprofit organization with a mission to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold through direct service and advocacy. Since 2019, the organization’s programs and initiatives have empowered 4,000 Chicagoland girls and equipped them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to navigate the challenges of adolescence. Guided by a belief in the inherent potential of every girl, Girls Inc. of Chicago aims to support each girl in their personal journey to become the best version of themselves and give back to others.

Girls Inc. of Chicago supports young girls in several ways. The organization’s flagship program for high school girls, the Bold Girls Society, focuses on promoting girls’ leadership skills. Each year, girls in the program learn about the importance of service to others through yearlong advocacy projects  that focus on topics such as sexual harassment, sexual violence, reproductive health, and body image. The program empowers girls to take ownership and champion issues they personally care about, which helps to foster a sense of leadership. Additionally, Girls Inc. has sponsored initiatives in Chicago including workshops on topics like restorative justice, STEM, and mindfulness.

The Girls Opportunity Alliance Fund will support Girls Inc.’s Bold Girls, Bold Expressions program (BGBE). BGBE will build on the success of the Bold Girls Society program and empower girls through a similar youth-advocacy model. Girls Inc. will engage 15 girls in a year-long program that focuses on racial trauma and healing, social justice, financial literacy, and leadership. Girls in the program will coordinate a citywide girls’ summit, which will be held in April 2024 and bring together over 100 teen girls from Chicago’s South Side.

Girls Inc. of Chicago is committed to nurturing the next generation of girl leaders. With this project, Girls Inc. will continue empowering girls to lead boldly, advocate for change, and build a more equitable future for all.
