In March 2026, the Kona Low Storm caused widespread flooding across Hawaii, prompting us to quickly mobilize donations into our Flood Relief Fund. GoFundMe seeded the fund with $100,000 to enable immediate granting, and we set an ambitious goal of raising $1 million to support communities across Hawaiʻi as they begin the long road to recovery.
Musician Jack Johnson and his wife, Kim, together with their Johnson ʻOhana Foundation, contributed $150,000 to the fund, and used their social media platforms to amplify the Fund as a resource.
The North Shore is my hometown, and this flooding is affecting our community in a very real way. Many of our friends, neighbors, and local farmers were hit hard. Recovery will take time, and we hope this pledge encourages others to come together to support the people who need it most.

Grants from the Flood Relief Fund are helping families in Hawai’i cover immediate needs as they assess the damage and plan for a future they were not expecting. The Fund raised more than $660k+ to support impacted residents in Hawai’i and we delivered 250 grants to support essential needs in the immediate aftermath of the storms.
To find and verify impacted households, we worked closely with the volunteers at Help Maui Rise. HMR founder Kenna Reed partnered tirelessly with us following the Maui wildfires, and is a trusted community leader. This kind of on-the-ground collaboration is critical as we work to support as many impacted households as possible, including those who find it difficult to ask for help, or face language barriers or other obstacles.
