The federal government shutdown from October 1 to November 12, 2025 created a period of immense hardship for families across the country. Delays in SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits left millions unsure of where their next meal would come from. In this time of great uncertainty, we witnessed a record number of fundraisers on the GoFundMe platform asking for help navigating the crisis, and making ends meet.

Because of your generosity, grants from our Essentials Fund were immediately deployed to help bridge the gaps.

In just three weeks, you helped raise over $220,000, allowing us to deliver nearly 500 emergency cash grants to families facing food insecurity during the shutdown.

Since the government shutdown we have had to hurry and scramble to figure how to make ends meet. It has been a parent’s worst nightmare to think that there will be nothing in the account to pay the bills, or put food in front of your kids at the table.
