Visible Impact is a grassroots organization led by young women in Nepal. Since its founding in 2015, the organization has led more than 25 projects to address challenges such as menstrual health, gender-based violence, and climate change. Visible Impact relies on a youth championship model that empower girls to use their voices and speak on the issues they care about. To date, Visible Impact has reached more than 65,000 youth, developing a new generation of leaders in Nepal.
Problems such as child marriage, early pregnancy, and economic insecurity remain pressing in Nepal, especially among those living in isolated, mountainous areas. For example, the Chepang people are among the most marginalized communities in Nepal and face high levels of illiteracy and poverty. Girls have difficulty accessing schools and rates of adolescent pregnancy remain concerning. Furthermore, due to patriarchal norms, girls and women have few opportunities, limiting their independence and autonomy. Visible Impact is committed to changing this reality, giving girls the tools they need to chart their own paths.
The Girls Opportunity Alliance Fund will support Visible Impact’s “Empowered Chepang Girls Initiative.” Girls will learn important life skills in areas such as vocational training, healthy decision-making, digital literacy, and more. The organization will also help girls apply for technical education scholarships, assisting them in the application process and providing tutoring for the entrance exam. Visible Impact will also organize public events to commemorate occasions such as Menstrual Hygiene Day, raising awareness for the types of issues that affect Chepang girls.
Visible Impact anticipates reaching 500 adolescent Chepang girls and 600 community members through this project. No girl should be held back by a lack of resources; Visible Impact believes in a brighter future for Chepang girls, and it seeks to provide the opportunities they deserve to achieve their dreams and ambitions.
